The three-month intensive course "Professional Development Program" for social workers (Batch-2) has been successfully finished and the completion ceremony was held on 15th July 2017.

On behalf of the Rakhine State Government, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock attended and delivered an opening remark and Director of Rakhine State Relief and Resettlement Department also delivered a congratulatory message to the attendees.

The twenty students from six international NGOs and eight national NGOs received both course completion certificate and project award certificate in recognition of their group achievement in designing, writing and presenting community building projects during a 3-month course period.

Local youth in Rakhine state have been looking for possible entry points to get jobs for their income. We realize that huge numbers of local youth with potentials are in need of job opportunities in social and business sectors. The BBS created an atmosphere for six local youth to improve their skills on social and peace studies and facilitation as well with the aim to step up their potential to get relevant professional jobs in the area. One of the interns got job opportunity at a local NGO in the half of internship period and when the four-month internship program was successfully finished; five out of six interns received an internship certificate.

In four months, the interns got various experiences in facilitating social and peace training, dialogue practices, humanitarian projects and IDP camp exposure to understand the living condition of conflict-affected people.

Paññā Institute is a non-governmental Organization initiated by like-minded international and local intellects. Multi-ethnic founders of Paññā come from diverse backgrounds ranging from academicians and entrepreneurs to development practitioners. No matter how diverse are the experiences, the common aim of the initiators is to be engaged in Myanmar democratic transition by fulfilling the gap of human resource in key sectors of reform. Although Paññā exists for capacity building of change agents in it also intends to strengthen debates for social justice and sustainable development of the country by means of research and public discussion.

On 16th March 2017, BBS and Paññā Institute singed organizational partnership agreement at the Paññā InstituteOffice in Yangon with below general agreements to strengthen coordination, collaboration and co-operation between two organizations for further peacebuilding and community building works.
To support and share technical expertise and resources for staff capacity building and organizational development process upon necessity of each organization.
To co-operate joint projects regarding the work nature by signing letters of agreements (Loas).
To support each organization for nation building and peace-building works in Myanmar as both organizations recognize and value diversity of religions, gender, ethnicities and international human rights standards as well.
To recognize and bear mutual respect on each organization's vision and mission and objectives.
To uphold and promote best practices on transparency and accountability in respective working areas and to keep the integrity.


BoD member May Moe Khine, Executive Advisor Mrs.Fanny Rockman and Program Coordinator Soe Moe Aung attended the signing ceremony together with Executive Director Mr. Ko Ko Lwin on behalf of BBS.

Introduction to Social Sciences training for social workers has been successfully completed over two months of course period (3rd December 2016 to 29 January 2017). On 11 February 2017, BBS conferred course completion certificates to (23) students in Sittwe, Rakhine state.

It is our great pleasure to serve social workers in community by education which is most neccessary for community building in Rakhine state.

Swe Tha Har, which means "friendship" in Burmese, was established in 2004 and locally registered as a nonprofit organization in 2010, is a network of peace volunteers and workers who share a common interest in building peaceful relationships among and between diverse people of the community.

On 7th February 2017, BBS and SweThaHar singed organizational partnership agreement at the Swe Tha Har office in Yangon with below general agreements to strengthen coordination, collaboration and co-operation between two organizations for further peacebuilding and community building works.

Course Period: 10th-12th January 2017
Trainer: Moe Zaw Thura (SUCCESS Performance Building Centre)

In partnership with SUCCESS Performance Building Centre (Yangon), BBS organized a 3-day training entitled "Personal Development" in Sittwe, Rakhine state from 10 to 12 January.

​INGO/LNGO staffs, CBO representatives and local youth were participated. SUCCESS Performance Building Centre conferred training completion certificates to 21 participants for their successful participation in the training.

Trainer Moe Zaw Thura voluntarily contributed and transferred knowledge to the participants with the aim to strengthen local capacity for peacebuilding and community building in Rakhine state.

​United Religions Initiative (URI) is a global grassroots interfaith network that cultivates peace and justice by engaging people to bridge religious and cultural differences and work together for the good of their communities and the world.

URI organized a 2-day South East Asia Zone Interfaith Network and Cooperation Circle (CC) gathering meeting in Thailand, Bangkok at International Institute of Peace and Development Studies from 26th to 27th Dec, 2016.

Soe Moe Aung, Program Coordinator of BBS represented the meeting and signed on behalf of the organization to become a very first new CC member of Myanmar. In this regard, we are honored as a very first CC from Myanmar of URI and hope we can do more together to prevail peace on earth.

The students from both social sceinces training bacth 1 and 2 were organized a picnic on 17th December at Nandawun Garden in Sittwe, Rakhine state.

The student shared works to cook for lunch and were enjoyed group games as well. The picnic could improve the friendship and syngerny among the students. The beautiful momets were captured and recorded as a joyful day.
