Provision of Temporary Shelter for IDPs

Safe and liveable shelter is of the main needs for internally displace persons (IDPs) in the camps in Rakhine state. Long barracks in IDPs camps were built since late 2012. Shelters are severely damaged and needed to reconstruct for safety and healthy living. IDPs are living under difficult condition and many vulnerable people including children, people with disabilities, pregnant women and lactating women have to sleep on the ground without proper flooring and walling. BBS is being responding to help those people in shelter need to improve their living with dignity in the camps.

In continue partnership with and led by MEDAIR, the Switzerland based international humanitarian agency, we implemented second shelter construction for the provision of (33) temporary shelters for the benefit of 308 families in Say Tha Ma Gyi IDP camp in Sittwe township. The living condition of the beneficiaries are improved and they have strong and safe shelter at the beginning of raining season. The project has been implemented by sound coordination of UNHCR, DRC (CCCM), MEDAIR, BBS and Say Tha Ma Gyi IDP camp management committee.

We do appreciate MEDAIR for their hardworking on humanity and for their best efforts to help those vulnerable people in need of shelter in Sittwe, Rakhine state, Myanmar.
